More than 300 young students from the MAVC Gozo Visual and Performing Arts School came together to present their work in the first edition of a collective art exhibition dedicated to young artists. Titled “Impressions in Bloom,” the exhibition takes inspiration from the Impressionist art movement, showcasing a vibrant collection of artworks that reflect the creativity, curiosity, and artistic growth of the students under their teachers’ guidance.
Mr. Vincent Caruana, Head of School explained that “As part of the project, students were introduced to this period in art history (Impressionism), learning about its distinctive focus on light, colour, and expressive brushstrokes. Inspired by these elements, the students created their own artworks reflecting the principles of Impressionism such as the effects of light, colour, and atmosphere rather than precise detail, while adding their personal interpretations”.

The exhibition presents a vibrant and diverse collection of works that demonstrate both the students’ learning journey and their creative expression.
The exhibition kicked off with a celebratory opening on Friday 13th March 2026 at the school’s main hall in Xewkija, drawing a strong attendance from students and their families, educators, and members of the School community.
The event included opening remarks by Head of College Network Mr Victor Galea. Adding a unique dimension to the evening, Julia Gatt, an MQF Level 4 Art student, presented a literary piece inspired by Impressionism and thoughtfully adapted for the younger audiences.

Participating students come from MQF Levels 1 to 3, as well as courses in Introductory Art, Digital Art, and Sculpture, making the exhibition a celebration of creativity across multiple art genres within the school.
“Impressions in Bloom” will remain open to the public until 30th March at the school’s main hall in Xewkija. Visiting hours are Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00, and Saturday from 08:30 to 11:30. The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience the creativity, curiosity, and artistic development of the MAVC, Gozo Visual and Performing Arts School’s young students while celebrating the importance of visual art education.
