New term, new equipment

The Visual and Performing school is committed to keep renewing itself in order to keep not only up-to-date but to reach into new disciplines and studies. For this, the school keeps investing into new equipment, maintenance, renovations and school material.

The latest equipment the school has purchased and has now been delivered is the following: a Stainless Steel Electric Kiln (for porcelain, gres, ceramic and glass firing), Majestic 3.5 Octave Xylophone Concert Series, a tone quality Yamaha Piano and 12 new children chairs.

What is a Kiln?
kiln is a thermally insulated chamber,  a special kind of oven for hardening things like porcelain, gres, ceramic and glass firing. Kilns have been used for millennia to turn objects made from clay into pottery, tiles and bricks.
Sadly, this Kiln is not ideal for pizza!

What is a xylophone?
xylophone (xilofonu in Maltese) is a long musical instrument with wooden bars played by hitting with small hammer-like mallets. Most people know it as the popular percussion instruments used by young children in schools but the xylophone is a percussion instrument of its own rights able to produce chromatic scales in several octaves.
The xylophone has also been used for sound effects in Halloween animations and movies as it can be used to mimic the sound of bones clanging.

What is a piano?
piano is a large musical instrument that you play by pressing black and white keys on a keyboard. Most people play a piano with their fingers, but Jerry Lee Lewis played with his fingers, feet, elbows, and … his backside.

What is a children chair?
A children chair ( siġġu tat-tfal in Maltese) is a seat with four legs and a back to lean against. Some children tend to use only two legs.
